About The Position

Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated, senior level professional engineer to be in the Vancouver Field Office in Vancouver, WA. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design, and construction of wetland and wild land restoration projects in multiple states within the Pacific Northwest.

Requirements

  • B.S in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree
  • Licensed Civil Engineer in the state(s) of Washington and/or Oregon
  • 10 years of experience in civil, water resources or related engineering field
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships
  • Able to perform field work that includes strenuous outdoor activity
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing

Responsibilities

  • Planning, designing, contracting, and performing construction management on wetland, riparian, riverine and associated habitat restoration projects in states that may consist of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah.
  • Leading projects in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho to support remote staff capacity in this area.
  • Splitting time between mentoring, peer review, senior level engineering support, and a project delivery role.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners.
  • Participation in team meetings to lead, strategize and grow the conservation program areas.
  • Supporting projects at a senior engineering level.
  • Performing engineering scoping, planning, design, and construction management on specific projects.
  • Preparation of project scopes of work and budgets for funding grants and proposals.
  • Preparation of project plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Preparation of bid documents, conducting pre-bid site meetings, and finalizing contractor selection.
  • Conducting field inspections and performing construction management oversight.
  • Acting as a contracting officer to ensure compliance and budget management.
  • Assisting in mentoring, peer review, coordination, training, and support for an engineering services team.
