About The Position

We are hiring for a Senior Civil Engineer to lead multi-discipline design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Newark, NJ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a similar discipline).
  • 12+ years of professional experience working in Engineering with a focus on land development and associated permitting.
  • PE license in NJ. Other states a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced expertise working with design and permitting activities.
  • Experience working with water resources (such as stream and waterway restoration).
  • Experience with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, GIS, analytical programs, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS / ArcInfo.
  • Experience with H&H tools (e.g.: HydroCAD, InfoSWWM, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, & SewerGEMS).
  • Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in a selfmotivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); technical writing skills are strongly preferred!

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects and tasks for a variety of client types on the private development side of the office.
  • Act as the lead civil engineer of record on projects. Coordinate with other disciplines as necessary.
  • Responsible for development of and maintaining client accounts.
  • Prepare proposals for new & existing clients (including estimation of project fees).
  • Oversee the development of Land Development Plans; this includes the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specification, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction).
  • Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large scale, complex projects.
  • Delegate workload to Junior Engineers & Drafters; this includes mentoring / guiding Junior Engineers to develop Stormwater Management [SWM] strategies, Utility Coordination, and Erosion & Sediment Control [E&SC] Design.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
