About The Position

Apex Companies is seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join their dynamic team in Richland, Washington. This role is ideal for a technical leader with a business development mindset who enjoys balancing project delivery with client relationship management and strategic growth initiatives. The Senior Civil Engineer will serve as a senior technical lead on projects with a cumulative total exceeding $750K annually and contribute to business development of over $250K annually. Responsibilities include coordinating project needs with other discipline leads, managing design staff, providing leadership in efficient and constructability design, establishing and maintaining client relationships, participating in professional organizations, mentoring young professionals, estimating and budgeting labor hours, and managing project financials and billings. The position requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and professional registration (or obtainable within a year), 8+ years of experience in land development and municipal projects, a solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, proven history of meeting deadlines and budgets, flexibility and creativity, proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology modeling, and MS software, and excellent communication skills. The role involves client-facing activities, building long-term partnerships, and representing Apex in the marketplace, with opportunities to collaborate across engineering and environmental service lines.

Requirements

A bachelor’s in civil engineering and professional registration is required or obtainable within a year of hire (Washington)
8+ years' experience as a consulting engineer providing design and project management of land development and municipal projects
A solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions / constraints.
A proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets.
Flexibility and creativity in engineering approaches
Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology modeling and MS software applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and management.
