About The Position

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking motivated, dynamic individuals for their skilled nursing facility, which boasts a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture. This position is primarily assigned in Activities but requires willingness to float to the floor as a Certified Nursing Assistant if needed. The Senior Certified Nursing Assistant/Activities will ensure residents' ADLs, daily assignments, and an ongoing program of activities are completed during the shift, identifying and resolving needs. Reports directly to the Activities Director (Therapy Aide Supervisor).

Requirements

  • Must have current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • Must have a current CPR card.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger facility van.
  • Must have a legible and valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Although primarily assigned in Activities, must be willing to float to the floor as a Certified Nursing Assistant if needed.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have better or basic computer skills.
  • Must be fluent in English: Speaking, Understanding, Reading and Writing.
  • Must successfully complete the level II background to include, but not limited to, a drug test and finger printing.

  • Experience in a long-term care environment with a geriatric population in activities department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and implementing an activities program, which improves or maintains physical, mental and social well-being with a varied work schedule that may include weekend, evenings, and holidays.
  • Assist with developing an activities plan for each resident in accordance with the inter-disciplinary team process.
  • Responsible for the documentation of that plan in the resident’s medical record.
  • Responsible for initial interview with new residents and input of resident data into the medical record.
  • Performing duties of the Activities Director when the Activities Director is unavailable.
  • Responsible for maintaining the activity space and requesting of, equipment and supplies for the program and ensuring resident safety for individual and/or group activities.
  • Observe all facility safety, infection control policies and procedures.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident.
  • Performs all other related duties in an effective, timely, professional manner as assigned.
  • Attend all in-service programs classes as assigned and complete assignment.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team and other facility meetings as assigned.
  • Follow Residents Rights’ policies as all times.
  • Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
