About The Position
The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking motivated, dynamic individuals for a Senior Certified Nursing Assistant/Activities position at the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Land O’ Lakes, Pasco County. Requirements
- Must have current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant License.
- Must have a current CPR card.
- Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger facility van.
- Must have a legible and valid Florida driver’s license.
- Although primarily assigned in Activities, must be willing to float to the floor as a Certified Nursing Assistant if needed.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have better or basic computer skills.
- Must be fluent in English: Speaking, Understanding, Reading and Writing.
- Must successfully complete the level II background to include, but not limited to, a drug test and finger printing.

- Experience in a long-term care environment with a geriatric population in activities department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the residents ADLs, daily assignments and an ongoing program of activities in accordance with the comprehensive assessment are completed during the shift while identifying and resolving needs.
- Assist with developing and implementing an activities program, which improves or maintains physical, mental and social well-being with a varied work schedule that may include weekend, evenings, and holidays.
- Assist with developing an activities plan for each resident in accordance with the inter-disciplinary team process.
- Responsible for the documentation of that plan in the resident’s medical record.
- Responsible for initial interview with new residents and input of resident data into the medical record.
- Performing duties of the Activities Director when the Activities Director is unavailable.
- Responsible for maintaining the activity space and requesting of, equipment and supplies for the program and ensuring resident safety for individual and/or group activities.
- Observe all facility safety, infection control policies and procedures.
- Complete required documentation.
- Consistently work cooperatively with resident, resident’s representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident.
- Performs all other related duties in an effective, timely, professional manner as assigned.
- Attend all in-service programs classes as assigned and complete assignment.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team and other facility meetings as assigned.
- Follow Residents Rights’ policies as all times.
- Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
