Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent Required
• Graduate of accredited medical assistance program or equivalent Required
• CCMA, CMA or RMA
• Basic Life Support (BLS) obtain within 60 days of hire.
• 2 years’ experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
• 6 months of phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities, as assigned.
• Monitors employees for compliance to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
• Consults with supervisor when non-compliance is observed.
• Maintains open communication with co-workers and uses appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Monitors and communication changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Administers injections, vaccines and medications and other related tasks as instructed by physician.
• Requests, obtains and reviews all records, test and lab results at least one day prior to the visit.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the examination areas.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Retrieves and returns telephone calls to patients in a timely manner and relay information provided by physicians.
