About The Position

The Senior Certification Lead refines and implements process development processes in accordance with DO-178C software standards. The role creates and updates DO-178C process documentation and oversees preparation, review, and submission of certification artifacts, including Plans for Software Aspects of Certification (PSAC), Software Plans, Compliance Checklists, and Compliance Reports.

This position coordinates with cross-functional teams to integrate certification requirements into the system development lifecycle and provides technical guidance on software certification practices. It oversees verification, validation, and traceability for software components; supports certification audits, including SOI audits conducted by regulatory authorities and DERs; manages certification risks; and serves as a primary liaison among engineering teams, certification authorities, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in aerospace certification, with a strong background in DO-254 or DO-178C.
• Hands-on experience preparing certification artifacts and supporting compliance activities.
• Strong understanding of safety assessments, systems engineering practices, and quality assurance standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to clearly write and review complex documents.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Proven leadership skills within a software development team.
• Fluency in spoken and written American English.
• Experience supporting at least one external audit of a project they led.

• Experience with avionics software lifecycle processes.

Responsibilities

• Refine and implement process development processes in accordance with DO-178C software standards.
• Write and update DO-178C process documents.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of certification artifacts, including PSACs, Software Plans, Compliance Checklists, and Compliance Reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate certification requirements into the system development lifecycle.
• Provide guidance on software certification best practices and compliance with standards such as ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, and AC 20-152A.
• Ensure robust verification, validation, and traceability processes for software components.
• Prepare for and participate in certification audits, including SOI audits conducted by regulatory authorities and DERs.
• Identify and mitigate certification risks to ensure deliverables meet safety and compliance requirements.
• Act as a primary liaison among engineering teams, certification authorities, and customers on certification-related concerns.
