About The Position

Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services is recruiting for a Senior Center Manager position. The Active Aging Program operates 15 senior centers throughout Salt Lake County. The Senior Center Manager is responsible for managing all activities and staff at the senior center, as well as the facility's maintenance. This position requires in-office work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work duties are typically performed in a general office setting. Requires lifting, sitting, and bending.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Human Services field, or other closely related field, plus three (3) years of experience in a related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Must have or acquire and maintain a Food Safety Manager's Certification within sixty (60) days of hire date.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the development and management of a congregate meal program, transportation, health promotion, and recreational programming.
  • Supervises staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning, and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisals, and discipline.
  • Manages the daily operations of the assigned senior center based on County and agency policies and procedures.
  • Participates in job-related committees and professional development activities.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors community partnerships.
  • Manages assigned budgets.
  • Oversees the P-card process for center staff.
  • Orders appropriate and sufficient supplies for the center in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates facility issues, upkeep, maintenance, and remodel of facilities as determined by County ownership and agreements with municipalities.
  • Oversees recruitment, training, placement, and retention of volunteers.
  • Ensures the development of center systems to collect, track and report activities, required data elements, and achievement of goals.
  • Manages maintenance of the facility and grounds, including inventory of all County property.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of a center evacuation plan and ongoing staff training.
  • Refers clients to internal and external resources to address their specific needs.
  • Refers clients to internal and external resources that might be beneficial to the client’s needs.
  • Maintains the assigned senior center quality assurance checklist.
