About The Position

We’re seeking Senior CEI Inspector professionals who will provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. This is an advanced level technical work supporting engineers in functional areas of structure and roadway construction inspection; materials sampling, inspection and testing. Work usually involves a fairly wide range of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work direction to others. This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area. We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need. This post targets various counties in the state of Georgia. Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Will conduct independent complex inspections and supervising lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with construction contracts. May perform contract administration duties, including field measurements of pay items and completion of Department-required documentation. Work may include participating in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out activities, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned. May perform project engineering duties in lieu of the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects with construction let amounts less than $10,000,000. May be responsible for the administration, inspection, and management of local let projects once assigned to Construction. Will attend meetings associated with project administration and coordination. Will ensure local municipalities remain in compliance with LAP processes to effectively close out projects upon completion. Will verify invoiced work for satisfactory completion and ensure project funding allocations are appropriately managed across project phases.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry related to highway and transportation engineering.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of lower-level employees.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).
