About The Position

Richelieu Hardware is seeking a permanent Senior Category Planner to join their team at their Simtab offices in Laval. Reporting to the Procurement Supervisor, this role is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring product availability information accuracy, and optimizing procurement and operational costs related to the sourcing strategy. The company is a North American leader in specialty hardware, with a significant customer base and a large team of employees, many of whom are shareholders. This is an opportunity to join a continuously growing, publicly traded company with a 50-year history.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Operations and Logistics Management) or Industrial Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in procurement and planning within a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Strong knowledge of MRP concepts
  • Experience with an ERP system for inventory and warehouse management
  • Bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)

Responsibilities

  • Generate and analyze a supply plan by determining financial and operational impacts while considering the supplier’s operational capacity.
  • Monitor sales forecasts generated from historical sales data or provided by the demand management team.
  • Create a purchasing plan to support the corporate purchasing department.
  • Determine and communicate priorities to suppliers based on market needs.
  • Analyze and act on recommendations from supply reports (place purchase orders).
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels across all warehouses for your product portfolio.
  • Understand the factors affecting supply chain performance indicators and work on implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure the maintenance and optimization of supply parameters for your product portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with product managers and merchandising agents.
  • Address supply-related issues with the various stakeholders.
  • Apply procurement policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.
