About The Position

AutoZone's Category Manager develops and implements a buying philosophy, a pricing philosophy and a marketing strategy, develops and maintains vendor relationships, and manages all aspects of their categories.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
• Five to seven years experience, preferably in a retail operations environment
• Strong financial acumen and communication skills
• Strong retail foundation, vendor management and analytical skills

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in merchandising, purchasing and manufacturing a plus

Responsibilities

• Participates in all team activities and decisions
• Selects quality vendors
• Negotiates programs
• Analyzes market research and to effectively put the right products in the right stores at the right prices
• Uses information from sales, gross profit and various ad hoc reports to make sure their assigned categories meet established performance targets
• Adds and deletes products in response to industry changes and customer demands
• Tests new products and troubleshoots supply chain issues
