About The Position

Axalta is seeking a Senior Category Manager (Plant Procurement Americas) to join their facility in Glen Mills, PA. This role is responsible for managing a significant annual spend across Capex, MRO, and site process materials for the Americas region. The position involves leading a team of Sourcing Specialists and collaborating closely with various internal stakeholders to develop and execute category strategies, negotiate supply agreements, and drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within an industrial setting, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.
  • Prior experience leading diverse, multi-functional teams.
  • 5 or more years' experience in procurement in an industrial company.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Proficient knowledge of the source-to-contract Procurement process.
  • Experienced in Procurement e-sourcing-tools.
  • Partnering with senior-level leaders and stakeholders in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent internal and external negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving capability.
  • Self-motivated, service-oriented “Can do – Will do” mindset and attitude.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to travel approx. 20%, including potential international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for managing $100M annual spend, including Capex, MRO and site process materials for the Americas region.
  • Managing a team of Sourcing Specialists, responsible for category support.
  • In collaboration with the Business Units, Operations, Technology, and/or other functional stakeholders, develop and continuously evolve a productivity plan for the category.
  • Close collaboration with internal stakeholders to determine current and future sourcing needs and develop and execute corresponding category strategies.
  • Negotiate and implement supply agreements to balance quality, service, risk and value.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with key suppliers to advance company objectives, develop supplier capabilities, address gaps in supplier performance.
  • Identify TCO improvement opportunities, particular for “key” equipment.
  • Effectively address all supplier performance failures via the root cause and corrective action process, successfully levying claims, and other tactics as appropriate.
  • Monitor and resolve disconnect in the buy channel process in conjunction with the Procurement policy to improve overall compliance and actively managed spend.
