About The Position

This role involves using virtual (CAE) tools to design, develop, and validate electric motors and drive units. The engineer will be responsible for developing propulsion systems for future GM electric vehicles, with a strong emphasis on durability, efficiency, and noise requirements. Key responsibilities include gathering information from various internal and external sources, building and running analytical models, interpreting results, and guiding design decisions based on virtual assessments. This position operates under a hybrid work policy, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to a local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a HV Battery Simulation Program Lead, Propulsion Virtual Simulation Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Five (5) years of experience in model creation and FEA analysis.
  • Five (5) years of experience with CAE Structural analysis Solvers including ABAQUS, NASTRAN, and Optistruct.
  • Five (5) years of experience in structural engineering, materials, large-scale nonlinear problems, optimization, topology, reliability, robust design, and process automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate electric motors and drive units using virtual (CAE) tools.
  • Engineer propulsion systems for future GM electric vehicles, focusing on durability, efficiency, and noise requirements.
  • Capture information from various sources inside and outside GM.
  • Build and run analytical models.
  • Interpret results from virtual assessments.
  • Drive design decisions based on virtual assessments.
