About The Position

The Senior Buyer – BESS performs daily planning and purchasing activities for components and electronics used in battery energy storage systems, ensuring competitive pricing and maintaining appropriate inventory levels for all BESS product components. This role requires a flexible, solutions-driven professional with strong operational experience who is eager to learn the products and industry while driving effective procurement and supply chain practices in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of buying or purchasing experience.
  • Proven experience as a buyer in a discrete contract manufacturing environment.
  • BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) buying experience.
  • General knowledge and understanding of supply chain management processes.
  • Hands-on inventory management experience.
  • MRP planning experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including strong Excel skills and effective use of PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; Great Plains (GP) experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong solutions-driven mindset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the procurement of raw materials, components, electronics, and connectors for BESS products, using appropriate procurement methods such as bidding, contracting, ordering, expediting, and arranging related transportation.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions, and ensure all purchase orders accurately reflect agreed-upon terms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to material planning, price discrepancies, purchase orders, requisitions, and vendor delivery receipts.
  • Stay current on developments and best practices in procurement and supply chain management to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
  • Support procurement initiatives, including contracting best practices, SOX-compliant processes, and inventory management programs.
  • Assist accounts payable by serving as a subject-matter expert on procurement matters, including resolving payable issues and directing invoicing questions to the appropriate parties.
  • Act as an expert on materials and procurement processes, including associated systems, and resolve vendor supply and invoicing issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage the MRP process to ensure accurate planning and replenishment of materials.
  • Coordinate RMAs, deviations, engineering change notices (ECN), and field return requests (FRR) as necessary to support product and supply continuity.
  • Support the implementation of new procurement processes, tools, or technologies that enhance efficiency and control.
  • Manage material levels and related risks within the scope of the role, ensuring adequate supply while avoiding excess inventory.
