The Senior Buyer is responsible for contributing to the competitive status and profitable operation of the company through creative sourcing and procuring of materials and services in a timely manner and at an optimum value. This role will act as the primary contact between suppliers and internal customers; managing supplier performance, flow of material to yard, request for quotes, purchase order placement, expedite deliveries and correct receipt discrepancies; promptly communicating any material shortages, late deliveries or non-conformances; spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule; and understanding and maintaining the ERP system to provide accurate information to all departments. Domestic travel may be required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of cost and pricing analysis and negotiations
• Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices
• Knowledge of SAP-MRP/ERP, Earned Value Management, and ISO
• Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
• Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
• Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
• Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness
• Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• 6 Years of experience required

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Buyer for a shipyard, production, or manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and participate in economical procurement methods, value analysis programs, etc.
• Create purchase orders to meet in yard dates, manage supplier performance, and enter and maintain pricing, supplier database, orders in the ERP system
• Communicate with Engineering, Production, Finance, Warehousing and Purchasing on material specifications, expediting, invoice reconciliations, receiving/inventory discrepancies, RFQ's, supplier performance and receiving discrepancies
• Execute and expedite the procurement of goods and services, developing cost savings plans and administering progress payment process
• Other duties as assigned
