Senior Buyer (Foodservice Distribution)
About The Position
Honor Foods is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our growing Purchasing team in Philadelphia. This is a highly visible role responsible for sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, inventory planning, and strategic procurement across a diverse portfolio of foodservice products. The ideal candidate has experience buying commodities within the food distribution, foodservice, wholesale, or redistribution industry and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Requirements
- 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or commodity buying experience within foodservice, food distribution, wholesale food, grocery, protein, produce, frozen foods, or related industries
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, forecasting, and supply chain operations
- Experience negotiating vendor agreements and managing supplier relationships
- Ability to analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and purchasing opportunities
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/inventory management systems
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Procurement, or related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities for foodservice and commodity products
- Develop and maintain strong supplier and vendor relationships
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, rebates, and purchasing agreements
- Monitor inventory levels and support demand planning initiatives
- Analyze market conditions, pricing trends, and supply chain impacts
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Transportation, and Finance teams to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards
- Review purchasing performance, inventory reports, and forecasting data
- Support and mentor junior purchasing team members
- Contribute to continuous process improvements and purchasing strategy
