About The Position

The Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing and executing material plan goals and objectives based on business needs while continuously improving material flow to maximize cash flow and material turns while maintaining on-time delivery objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or APICS/ISM Certification
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP principles and supply chain planning
  • 3+ years of Materials, Planning and Inventory experience
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and tariffs
  • Proficient in Excel and Project Planning

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and executing material plan goals and objectives.
  • Continuously improving material flow to maximize cash flow and material turns.
  • Maintaining on-time delivery objectives.
  • Procurement and planning activities, sharing best practices and strategic supplier development.
  • Managing external suppliers to ensure raw materials and sourced parts are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
  • Collaborating with production planning, operations, and logistics to align procurement with demand forecast.
  • Establishing strategic relationships with key suppliers aligned to company needs.
  • Supporting and leading negotiations with vendors for material that supports operations.
  • Tracking supplier performance to aid in the contract process.
  • Leading supplier selections, RFQs, and contract negotiations to achieve cost savings and favorable terms, including discount structures and volume rebates.
  • Working closely with R&D, Engineering, Production, Planning, Finance, and others in support of all procurement requirements and business development.
  • Monitoring supplier performance (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Responsiveness) and driving continuous improvements, including secondary sourcing strategies to reduce supply risk.
  • Building trust and positive, professional relationships among team members and suppliers.
  • Reviewing supplier contracts and sharing compliance documents and insurance forms for external suppliers performing work in the plant with the Corporate Sourcing/Legal Team.
  • Understanding material specifications and quality metrics pertaining to components, working with Engineering/R&D and Suppliers.
  • Effectively performing under a heavy volume, time-constrained environment.
  • Resolving pricing and lead time problems that do not meet business needs.
  • Identifying and implementing new opportunities and cost savings.
  • Continually improving purchasing methods and driving down external spending.
  • Conducting supplier visits to review performance and opportunities, which may be at very short notice.
  • Performing other tasks/functions as assigned.
