About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to support the tactical procurement activities in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and issuing purchase orders across categories including controls & accessories, test hardware, and manufacturing support equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong supplier management skills, a solid procurement background under the FAR/DFARS, experience in regulated manufacturing environments, and the ability to drive cost savings while ensuring strict compliance with quality, delivery, and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3–7+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries.
  • Hands-on sourcing experience with electronics, including PCBs, motors, and pumps.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and related compliance documentation for U.S. government contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, managing, and auditing procurement compliance documentation.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret statements of work, and equipment specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement analytics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, additive, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with long-term supply agreements and logistics
  • Experience reading engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing and procurement activities for various categories.
  • Manage RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection, bid analysis, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Procure electronics, PCB’s, motors, pumps, tooling, test hardware, and related manufacturing support equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements and all government contracting regulations throughout the procurement process.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain all required compliance documentation, including flow-down of government contract clauses to suppliers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams to support business objectives.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, service agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure performance in quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction, process improvement, and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and sourcing documentation within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support audits and documentation requirements related to AS9100, ISO standards, and government contracting compliance.
