About The Position

Amsted Automotive's SMW Division in Taylor, Mi is looking for a strategic finance leader to serve as our Senior Business Unit Controller I. In this role, you will drive financial strategy, profitability, and business performance by partnering closely with plant leadership to improve operational efficiency and cost control. You will oversee accounting operations, lead forecasting and financial planning activities, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the business unit’s financial reporting. Requirements

  • Strong Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, understanding of GAAP, and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • 10+ years in Finance/Accounting.
  • Ability to analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends and validate data accuracy.
  • Ability to interact with production floor personnel and present findings to management.
  • Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stooping.
  • Usage of a computer and other office machinery

  • CPA or CMA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Act as a financial advisor to the General Manager and operational teams, providing insights to drive cost optimization.
  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and strategic planning for the business unit.
  • Analyze manufacturing KPIs (productivity, efficiency, scrap, throughput) and manage standard costs/variance analysis.
  • Oversee monthly closing, ensure GAAP compliance, and maintain internal controls.
  • Conduct capital expenditure (CapEx) analysis, "make-versus-buy" evaluations, and inventory analysis.
  • Mentor, coach, and manage a team of finance analysts or accountants.
  • Other activities as directed by the Sr. Director of Finance - Operations.
