Reporting to the Manager, Business & Systems Analysis Chapter, the Senior Business & Systems Consultant has deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general operations; they rely on their expertise, experience, and judgment to plan and achieve goals, and to do a variety of tasks. The Senior Business & Systems Consultant conducts needs analysis, writes requirements/user stories, collaborates with others for system design; and supports the team to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Requirements

  • Able to lead large scale transformational work
  • Experience supporting business architecture work
  • Extensive knowledge of strategy tools and frameworks
  • Experience leading the strategic planning process
  • Understanding of journey mapping and service design
  • Experience with business capability identification and mapping
  • Experience with vendor selection (RFP/RFI processes)
  • Experience building out complex business cases
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (needs the ability to tell stories through presentations)
  • Ability to build and communicate presentations to senior executives
  • University degree in business or technology or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive experience as a Business & Systems Consultant with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of business and/or technology platforms or ability to learn about technology and digital products.
  • Experience in supporting customer facing operations is an asset.
  • Experience working with client-facing technologies/digital engagement platforms.
  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking principles
  • Knowledge of financial services industry is an asset.
  • Experienced in transformational system work, moving from legacy system to modern system.
  • Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, control, and security requirements.
  • Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and simply both complex business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
  • Ability to work and demonstrate cooperation in a matrixed team environment.
  • Experience with data & integration modelling.
  • Experience with project estimating.
  • Experience with Business case development and modelling.
  • Experience with vendor engagement.
  • Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supporting customer facing operations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the big picture to define business capabilities and go forward roadmap.
  • Analyze and define user needs and translate them into requirements/epics/user stories/data mapping documents.
  • Analyze and document how systems, processes, procedures, and clients will be impacted by future development with a focus on the links between processes and systems throughout the organisation.
  • Create and/or provide comments into internal and external communications and user documentation.
  • Review and provide comments on business and technical documentation.
  • Support business on the roll-out of what has been developed with a focus on end-to-end validation.
  • Act in an advisory capacity as well as coach/mentor Business & Systems Analysts.
