The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes ROLE SUMMARY The Business Excellence Engineer will lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives from Define through Control using Lean Six Sigma methodology to deliver measurable business results (cost reduction, quality, throughput, and lead time). This role will serve as project owner for medium-to-large capital and process improvement projects, partnering with site and functional leaders to design, implement, document, and sustain operational excellence through visual management, standard work, data-driven problem solving, and capability building.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2+ years of progressive experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, operations improvement, and/or regulated environments.
  • Experience with visual management, value stream mapping, standard work, and kaizen events.
  • Strong IT and data analytics capability with advanced Power BI and SQL skills; proven track record turning complex data into clear dashboards and actionable insights that drive continuous improvement and business excellence.
  • CAD experience (2D/3D) to create or modify layouts, tooling and fixtures; experience with common CAD packages preferred.
  • Strong project management experience, including project charters, schedules, budgeting and stakeholder management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel advanced, PowerPoint, Word, Visio or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in data-driven problem solving and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and change management skills; ability to influence at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
  • Practical experience with Lean tools: 5S/6S.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP integration or process automation.
  • Experience in visual factory software or digital manufacturing tools.
  • Previous experience in the specific industry (medical devices, consumer goods, automotive, aerospace, etc.).
  • Experience with regulatory environments (e.g., ISO, FDA) where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects from Define through Control using Lean Six Sigma methodology to deliver measurable business results (cost reduction, quality, throughput, lead time).
  • Act as project owner for medium-to-large capital and process improvement projects: develop charters, build schedules, manage risks, track budgets and report status.
  • Design and implement visual factory solutions (kanban, visual metrics, standardized workboards) and support site-wide deployment of 5S/6S and standard work.
  • Use CAD tools to support process design, line layouts, tooling/fixture concepts and process simulations; create and revise technical drawings to support implementation.
  • Coach, mentor and train employees and leaders on Lean, Six Sigma tools, problem solving (A3, PDCA), and change management to build internal capability.
  • Apply data analysis and root-cause investigation techniques to drive corrective actions and process control.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops (kaizen events, rapid improvement events) and lead stakeholder alignment.
  • Define and monitor KPIs (OEE, cycle time, first pass yield, scrap, throughput, safety metrics); translate performance into action plans.
  • Support deployment and continuous improvement of maintenance and reliability practices (TPM/RCM principles).
  • Document and sustain improvements through control plans, training, audits and governance rituals.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
