About The Position

NFP, an Aon company, is looking for a Senior Business & Data Analyst to support data-driven decision-making throughout Blue Sky Risk (BSR), Insurance Specialty Group (ISG), and the wider Totalis Specialty platform. The Senior Business & Data Analyst is a strategic individual contributor who drives data-informed decisions throughout Blue Sky Risk (BSR), Insurance Specialty Group (ISG), and the wider Totalis Specialty platform. Acting as a trusted advisor to program leadership and business partners, this role converts complex business needs into scalable reporting, analytics, and data solutions. These solutions improve operational performance and back strategic growth initiatives. The position plays a meaningful role in modernizing and automating reporting processes, improving data quality and governance, setting reporting standards, and supporting enterprise integration efforts throughout the organization. The ideal candidate blends strong analytical and technical abilities with business sense, insurance industry expertise, and a consultative style. Success in this role means prioritizing work independently, partnering effectively with interested parties at all levels, and developing balanced, well-documented solutions that invent long-term business value. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this individual will develop positive relationships across underwriting, operations, finance, claims, technology, and executive leadership teams. They will influence decisions and support data-informed outcomes throughout the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and automation tools powered by artificial intelligence (such as Copilot Studio), along with hands-on experience in SQL Server environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in enterprise Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Business Analysis, or Data Enablement.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the insurance sector.
  • Direct experience supporting: MGA (Managing General Agent), MGU (Managing General Underwriter), Wholesale Brokerage, Reinsurance Operations, Surplus Lines / E&S Markets.
  • Proven experience leading reporting automation and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting executive and operational collaborators.
  • Experience gathering and detailing business and technical requirements.
  • Advanced SQL development and data analysis skills.
  • Strong Power BI experience including: Data modeling, DAX or equivalent experience, Dashboard development, Benchmark reporting.
  • Experience collaborating with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience working in SQL Server settings.
  • Understanding of: Data modeling, Data quality management, Data governance, Data lineage, Reporting architecture.
  • Experience integrating and analyzing data from multiple operational systems.
  • Strong business insight.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • 5+ years of Business Intelligence or Data Analytics experience.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, IT Management, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience supporting insurance operations including: Underwriting, Premium reporting, Bordereaux reporting, Claims operations, Carrier reporting, Program business management.
  • Experience with enterprise integration projects.
  • Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the optimization, automation, and modernization of recurring reporting processes across BSR, ISG, and Totalis programs.
  • Reduce manual reporting effort through improved data architecture, automation, and self-service reporting capabilities.
  • Build, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ensure reporting solutions offer reliable, timely, and useful business insights.
  • Partner with collaborators to define targets, reporting requirements, and operational metrics.
  • Continuously find opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and business value.
  • Serve as a consultative partner to Program Managers, executives, and business leaders regarding data strategy and reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze business processes and find opportunities for operational improvement through data and analytics.
  • Convert business needs into data requirements, reporting specifications, and actionable recommendations.
  • Support enterprise-wide data enablement initiatives across multiple business divisions and programs.
  • Perform data discovery, validation, reconciliation, and analysis across various enterprise systems.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive documentation supporting all major reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Build and maintain: Data lineage documentation, Source-to-target mappings, Business rules documentation, Data dictionaries, Metric definitions, Reporting process documentation.
  • Clearly identify source systems and document how data is transformed and conformed throughout analytical workflows.
  • Ensure reporting solutions can be audited, replicated, and handed over to future team members.
  • Support data governance initiatives by promoting consistency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and solution-design meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Drive discussions that establish alignment on requirements, priorities, and business outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with: Program Managers, Underwriting Teams, Claims Partners, Finance Teams, Executives and Senior Leadership.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Influence decisions through data, business context, and thoughtful recommendations.
  • Independently manage and prioritize 2-3 concurrent projects at varying stages of execution.
  • Own projects from requirements gathering through implementation and adoption.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate across business and technology functions to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Support enterprise integration initiatives through the standardization of reporting, metrics, and data management practices.
