Senior Business Analyst

Luminate BankMinneapolis, MN
Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) is a high-impact, hybrid role at the intersection of business strategy, project leadership, and technology delivery within Luminate Bank’s Advanced Technology Solutions team. This position serves as a critical bridge between mortgage production and operations stakeholders and the technology organization, translating complex business needs into actionable, well-defined system solutions that drive measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep mortgage industry expertise—spanning loan origination, secondary markets, and mortgage operations—combined with the technical acumen to evaluate enterprise systems, direct third-party integrations, influence architecture decisions, and lead cross-functional project teams. This is not a passive documentation role; the SBA is expected to be a proactive driver of innovation, a confident communicator at the executive level, and a hands-on project leader who takes ownership from discovery through deployment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or equivalent role within mortgage banking, financial services, or a related industry.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with mortgage production workflows including loan origination, processing, underwriting, closing, and secondary market delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technology projects from requirements through delivery in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Experience working with Loan Origination Systems—Encompass (ICE Mortgage Technology) experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of retail mortgage operations, secondary market processes (FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA), and banking compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with competing priorities, using Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems including LOS platforms, core banking systems, CRM platforms, APIs, data integration frameworks, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Ability to synthesize data, workflows, and system logic to identify process gaps and develop scalable improvement solutions.
  • Ability to present clearly and confidently to EVP and C-suite stakeholders; skilled at translating between business and technology teams.
  • Curiosity and working knowledge of AI-enabled tools, sales enablement platforms, and emerging fintech solutions relevant to the mortgage industry.
  • Azure DevOps, SharePoint, or similar project/workflow management platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, CBAP, CSM, or equivalent certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to mortgage production, secondary market, and banking operations leaders to identify inefficiencies, automation opportunities, and technology gaps.

  • Identify and champion AI-enabled tools, platforms, and integrations that assist in ticket writing and project management as well as potentially aid in the development of business solutions.
  • Assess third-party vendor solutions and present structured recommendations to technology and executive leadership.
  • Own project delivery end-to-end for key technology initiatives—from requirements definition through go-live and post-release adoption—using a streamlined and transparent project management model.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestone tracking, and risk registers across concurrent initiatives.
  • Facilitate requirements workshops and UAT coordination with business stakeholders.
  • Manage dependencies across multiple lines of business (mortgage, banking, secondary/accounting, back office) with clear stakeholder communication at every stage.
  • Provide hands-on escalation support during high-priority incidents or critical release events when the highest level of coordination is required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EVP-level stakeholders, department heads, and front-line teams across mortgage and banking operations.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language for non-technical audiences; translate ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
  • Maintain transparency around project goals, timelines, risks, and release impacts through consistent reporting and stakeholder updates.

  • Maintain deep working knowledge of Loan Origination Systems (LOS), particularly Encompass, as well as secondary market tools, CRM platforms, POS, core banking systems, and third-party integrations.
  • Understand system dependencies and data flows between mortgage production, secondary/accounting, and banking platforms.
  • Participate actively in QA, regression testing, and UAT processes to validate enhancements against defined acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor post-release performance, adoption metrics, and user feedback to drive continuous improvement cycles.
  • Support API, data integration, and workflow automation initiatives that improve the loan originator and processor experience.
