About The Position

XLA is currently seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support our DEA client onsite in Arlington, VA. Candidates must be local to the Arlington area, as this position is onsite in a federal office setting 5 days/week. The Senior Business Analyst competencies will encompass very high-level skills in the following areas: organization; time management; ability to multitask effectively; attention to detail, computer literacy; and well-developed interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Requires experience in business system development or business process re-engineering.
  • Working knowledge of analytical and quantitative techniques to solve business needs.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in project management methodologies.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills and mastery of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications/tools; Excel
  • Requires six plus years in business system development or business process re-engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred OR 8+ years of related experience (with no degree).

  • Project management certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and process financial and accounting reports, deliverables, accounts payable, cost accruals, and disbursements.
  • Apply financial reporting and accounting management as related to the federal government accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets of obligations, accounts payable, cost accruals, and disbursements.
  • Assist with financial and accounting audits of complex contracts.
  • Analyze and prepare financial and accounting program activities.
  • Develop operating procedures, directives, and/or guides to convey information relating to financial or accounting processes.
  • Conduct studies improving accumulation, processes, and reporting of financial and accounting data to include development of complex funding documents and ongoing contract administration.
  • Process funding requests into the DEA’s financial management system for action.
  • Perform complex fund control activities.
  • Perform in a respectful and professional manner with employees.
  • Use analytical techniques and critical thinking to prepare delivery status of accounting, data or financial deliverables; identifies tracks and resolves data discrepancies or recommends solutions; attends meetings, working groups, and briefings.
  • Process invoices after careful analysis of financial and accounting information.
  • Track, organize, record, modify, identify, validate, analyze, and report financial and accounting data relating to procurement of commodities or services; reimbursable agreements; intra-agency agreements; account deliverable and receivables.
  • Guides customer in preparing functional specifications and project plans to assure customer’s objectives are met on time and within cost.
  • Assists in the development, design, and implementation of strategic planning projects.
  • Works with customer to define system needs and translate logic diagrams into program statements.
  • Performs project management, workflow analysis, systems analysis, GAP analysis, integration, process design, user liaison, and systems deployment.
  • Develops and maintains expertise in the scripting designs of the various platforms.
  • Prepares test bed requirements and performs system integration testing.
