About The Position

Drive complex risk and capital markets initiatives within the insurance sector in a hybrid Toronto-based role. Leverage advanced analytics tools such as SQL, Python, and Azure to influence regulatory and financial outcomes while collaborating with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
  • PMP certification required.
  • 12 years of experience in business analysis within capital markets or risk environments.
  • Strong expertise in market risk, interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and economic capital frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, data mapping, and data flow documentation.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure-based data platforms and modern analytics ecosystems.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking with attention to detail and ability to work independently in complex environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree such as MBA or MSc in Finance is considered an asset.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or Agile credentials are considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting, stress testing, or capital programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements analysis across market risk, interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and economic capital initiatives.
  • Support and interpret risk methodologies including VaR, stress testing, backtesting, PV01/DV01, LCR, NSFR, RWA, and ICAAP.
  • Analyze risk exposure across asset classes such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to validate financial models, assumptions, and regulatory impacts.
  • Elicit, document, and manage complex business and functional requirements.
  • Produce detailed documentation including BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and traceability matrices.
  • Develop data lineage, source-to-target mappings, and end-to-end process flows.
  • Translate regulatory and financial risk concepts into clear technical specifications.
  • Partner with data engineering teams leveraging Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Utilize Azure Data Factory for data integration and orchestration workflows.
  • Perform advanced SQL-based analysis and validate large-scale datasets.
  • Apply Python and PySpark for data exploration, reconciliation, and control validation.
  • Contribute to Agile delivery cycles, including backlog refinement and sprint execution.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across risk, finance, and technology functions, providing expert guidance.

Benefits
