About The Position

The Senior Broker – Advance Waster Shipper will provide senior technical leadership and support in Salas O’Brien's environmental and radiological program. This position will serve as Salas O’Brien's senior technical resource for the planning, characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal of exempt and non-exempt radioactive waste, low-level radioactive waste (LLRW), mixed waste (MW), hazardous waste, and other regulated waste streams.

Requirements

  • Senior technical leadership and support in Salas O’Brien's environmental and radiological program.
  • Senior technical resource for the planning, characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal of exempt and non-exempt radioactive waste, low-level radioactive waste (LLRW), mixed waste (MW), hazardous waste, and other regulated waste streams.
  • Expertise in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and State regulations, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with clients, subcontractors, laboratories, transportation/logistics providers, disposal facilities, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain required professional certifications and training.
  • Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements, industry guidance, and best management practices.
  • Meet qualifications, training, certifications, and experience requirements for the Senior Broker (Advanced Waste Shipper) labor category as established by the applicable Department of War lead agency and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of waste management activities, including: Waste stream characterization, profiling, and disposal strategy development; Preparation and review of shipping papers, manifests, and regulatory documentation; Packaging, repackaging, radiological surveys, marking, labeling, and shipping coordination; Transportation logistics and coordination with licensed carriers and disposal facilities; Selection of appropriate treatment, storage, recycling, and disposal options; Preparation of work plans, technical memoranda, and summary reports
  • Provide technical guidance and regulatory compliance support related to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and State regulations, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, laboratories, transportation/logistics providers, disposal facilities, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.
  • Maintain required professional certifications and training and remain current with evolving regulatory requirements, industry guidance, and best management practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining the qualifications, training, certifications, and experience requirements for the Senior Broker (Advanced Waste Shipper) labor category, as established by the applicable Department of War lead agency and project requirements.
