About The Position

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Senior Broadcast Producer for Laura Coates Live. This role is a leadership position responsible for planning, creating, and managing content for the program. The Senior Broadcast Producer will plan daily show rundowns, provide strategic vision for segments and bookings, manage producers, and oversee the control room. Requirements

  • Strong leadership, editorial, writing, and control room skills.
  • +10 years of experience in television news.
  • At least five years as a show producer at a cable or broadcast network.
  • Previous experience as a senior producer on a live daily news show.
  • Strong feature and segment production skills.
  • Strong strategic vision for bookings.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Extensive control room experience.
  • Thorough understanding of news production.
  • Creative thinker who can generate numerous stories under intense deadline pressure and changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of television production including graphics, editing, digital news gathering, and live remote broadcasting.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to travel if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan all aspects of the program’s editorial direction.
  • Communicate and implement the creative vision for the show, including proposing new program concepts and driving compelling and engaging storytelling.
  • Make crucial editorial decisions.
  • Organize and prepare content to meet high-pressure deadlines.
  • Serve as the point person for the executive producer and senior leadership during the day.
  • Oversee staff to ensure a high level of editorial and production consistency.
  • Create opportunities for the development and growth of staff members in a creative, collaborative environment.
  • Develop and enterprise story pitches related to news topics of the day and relevant current issues.
  • Read and monitor multiple and diverse sources of information and exchange ideas with the Executive Producer and bookers for angles on stories.
  • Collaborate with the Anchor, producers, and correspondents on the direction and production of stories.
  • Accurately and rapidly establish facts on developing stories.
  • Coordinate reporting with others in the network working on a story.
  • Acquire live sources.
  • Communicate with newsgathering desks regionally and nationally.
  • Utilize a developed network of previously established sources.
  • Quickly respond to booking guests and moving resources to cover breaking stories.
