About The Position

Function Health is seeking a highly creative and craft-driven Brand Designer (Illustration) to join their growing Brand Creative team. This role is for a multidisciplinary designer with a strong emphasis on illustration, who can create visually distinctive, culturally relevant work while bringing strong instincts across typography, art direction, and social storytelling to build engaging brand experiences across platforms. The designer will work across social, partnerships, campaigns, editorial, experiential, motion, and product storytelling, helping shape how Function shows up across every consumer touchpoint. A key part of the role is translating complex health and science concepts into clear, engaging visual narratives that make proactive health feel modern, approachable, and emotionally impactful. The ideal candidate has a strong agency, editorial, fashion, wellness, or culturally driven brand background, paired with exceptional taste, strong visual instincts, and a deep understanding of internet-native storytelling. They should be collaborative, curious, and excited by the future of creative technology, including the thoughtful use of AI tools to support concepting, storytelling, and creative workflows while maintaining a high level of craft and originality. Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in brand design, illustration, art direction, or visual design within agency, editorial, fashion, wellness, media, or high-growth consumer brands
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating strong typography, illustration, layout, branding, and social campaign work
  • Strong understanding of AI creative tools and workflows, with the ability to integrate emerging technologies into design and storytelling while maintaining a high level of craft and creativity.
  • Proven experience creating 360 activities systems across digital, social, motion, editorial, and experiential platforms
  • Strong understanding of social-first storytelling, internet culture, and platform-native creative execution
  • Excellent illustration skills with the ability to adapt stylistically across campaigns and brand moments
  • High level of craft, taste, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate creative rationale clearly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while operating effectively in fast-paced environments
  • Deep understanding of creative production workflows and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and modern creative workflows

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute visually compelling brand design work across social, campaigns, partnerships, editorial, motion, experiential, and digital channels
  • Develop illustration systems, visual storytelling frameworks, and graphic assets that elevate Function’s brand identity
  • Collaborate closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Motion Designers, Strategists, Social, Growth, Product Marketing, and external partners
  • Translate complex health and science concepts into clear, engaging, culturally resonant visual narratives
  • Contribute to creative ideation, moodboards, design systems, pitch development, and integrated 360 brand activations
  • Create best-in-class social-first creative that feels native to modern culture while maintaining premium brand standards
  • Maintain a strong understanding of typography, composition, motion principles, visual hierarchy, and storytelling across formats
  • Help evolve and refine Function’s visual identity as the company scales
  • Present creative concepts clearly and confidently to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Stay highly informed on trends across design, internet culture, fashion, wellness, technology, editorial, film, and creative industries
