About The Position

BookHampton, the East End’s premier independent bookstore, is seeking a Senior Bookseller. Known for its lively author events, warm community, and carefully curated shelves, BookHampton offers a unique opportunity for book lovers to engage with customers and literature. As a Senior Bookseller, you will be instrumental in creating an exceptional customer experience, recommending books, engaging in literary discussions, maintaining store organization, and supporting store operations and events.

Requirements

• A passion for books, reading, and engaging conversations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Retail experience (bookselling experience is a plus but not required).
• Proficiency with POS systems, Microsoft Office, and digital tools.
• Reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, and full availability during the summer season.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. on a recurring basis.
• Ability to bend and stretch to shelve books.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and sell books and gifts.
• Engage with customers about literature and culture.
• Maintain the organization and tidiness of shelves.
• Assist with store operations, including special orders, opening, and closing procedures.
• Support store events and off-site book sales, particularly during peak seasons.
