Senior Biostatistician

Alexion•Boston, MA

About The Position

The Senior Biostatistician has the necessary academic qualifications but limited experience working as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry. Most work is therefore supervised by a more experienced statistician. Common activities include study-level support throughout set-up, conduct, analysis, and reporting, as well as technical statistical projects. Under the guidance of an experienced statistician, the role provides statistical support for standard study design and interpretation, validation activities, and regulatory submissions. It involves analyzing internal and external information to inform design decisions and decision criteria; applying modelling and simulation to inform study design and assess the robustness of results; developing Statistical Analysis Plans; and producing analyses, graphics, and tables for projects such as preclinical studies, clinical study reports, Global Medical Affairs studies, and publications. The role also interprets, summarizes, and communicates results of standard studies. The Senior Biostatistician contributes to methodological improvements, practical solutions, improved statistical processes and delivery, and best practices that enhance quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. The role is accountable for the quality of its statistical work and provides discipline-specific understanding, insight, and constructive challenge while remaining aware of development needs. Duties are generally conducted in an office environment. Employees must be able, with or without accommodation, to use a computer; communicate by phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; and maintain general availability during standard business hours. The annual base pay ranges from $86,992 to $130,488. Positions may be eligible for short-term incentive bonuses and equity-based awards for salaried roles. Benefits include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (vacation, holidays, and leaves), and health, dental, and vision coverage, subject to applicable plan terms.
