The Senior BIM Coordinator for SPC is responsible for overseeing the full coordination process, including modeling specific project scopes (plumbing and/or mechanical systems) using Revit and Navisworks. This role ensures the quality of piping within the model and all necessary documentation for prefabrication and field installation. The coordinator must effectively communicate and collaborate with internal teams to ensure the model meets SPC standards. They act as a key technical resource for BIM on assigned projects, maintaining relationships with design, project, and SPC teams. The position involves analyzing designs for MEP conversions to create workable, constructible models, checking model quality and accuracy, extracting quantities, performing clash detection and resolution, analyzing scheduling and costs, resolving workforce conflicts, and creating documentation. The role requires translating 2D drawings and specifications into advanced 3D building information models, with knowledge of BIM platforms like AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, as well as software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, BlueBeam, GoTo Meeting, and Microsoft Teams. A high level of MEP system knowledge, construction techniques, sequences, and awareness of construction methods, processes, and building codes is essential. The Senior BIM Coordinator will assist the BIM manager with training BIM Drafter/Spoolers and Lead Coordinators, and will model all necessary components for mechanical and plumbing equipment hookups, including spooling, labeling, dimensioning, documentation, printing spool books and drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and naming conventions, placing hangers, and running reports on hangers and materials. They will also place Trimble points and lead the coordination effort for assigned projects, directing Drafters, Assistant Coordinators, and Pinnacle staff. Attending coordination meetings as the SPC representative for their assigned project and scope, and having a complete understanding of job specifications, schedules, and construction sequencing are key. The role involves labeling, dimensioning, and printing drawings, placing Trimble points, aiding in the creation and maintenance of equipment and fitting libraries, and maintaining/filing all sketches and drawings. Detailed shop drawings for duct and piping will be provided as required, along with piping assembly drawings for fabrication shops. The coordinator will learn all necessary information regarding mechanical installations applicable to modeled systems, make final sketches of proposed drawings, check dimensions, materials, and part relationships, and utilize knowledge of machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and physical sciences to complete drawings. Adjustments and changes to accommodate field and prefabrication requests will be made, and finished designs will be drawn from sketches. Coordination of modeled systems with other trades will be completed using Revit and Navisworks. Meetings with PM/FS/LC will be attended, and all drawings, BOMs, and cut sheets will be properly filed.
