About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled BI Data Engineer to support the development, integration, analysis, and delivery of enterprise data and business intelligence solutions. This Senior-level role will work across data engineering, data analysis, and business intelligence functions to transform complex data into reliable, accessible, and actionable information. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Python skills, experience working with large-scale enterprise databases and data platforms, and hands-on experience with one or more major Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, or Power BI. The candidate should be comfortable learning and working across different BI technologies based on evolving program and business needs. This role will collaborate with technical teams, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements, develop and optimize datasets and queries, support dashboards and reporting solutions, troubleshoot data issues, and help ensure the accuracy, quality, and performance of enterprise data solutions.

Requirements

Ability to obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation.
Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States.
Must have lived in the United States for three (3) of the last five (5) years.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical/quantitative field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
10+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, database development, or a related technical field.
Experience working with large-scale enterprise databases or data platforms such as Snowflake, Teradata, or similar technologies.
Hands-on experience with at least one major BI/reporting and visualization platform, such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, or a comparable tool.
Strong SQL development experience, including querying, transforming, validating, and analyzing complex datasets.
Experience using Python for data analysis, transformation, scripting, or automation.
Experience working within Agile development environments and using tools such as Jira and GitHub.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability and willingness to learn and work across multiple BI, data, and reporting technologies based on program needs.

Nice To Haves

Experience with additional BI and data visualization tools, particularly Power BI.
Experience with Informatica or similar ETL/data integration platforms.
Experience with Hadoop, Hive, or similar big-data technologies.
Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including Unix shell scripting.
Familiarity with R for data analysis or statistical computing.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse architectures.
Experience with dimensional data modeling and development of data marts or analytical datasets.
Experience with API-based data integration and data exchange.
Familiarity with CI/CD and automated deployment practices for data and BI solutions.
Knowledge of data governance, data security, metadata management, and data quality practices.
Exposure to advanced analytics, statistical analysis, machine learning, or AI-enabled data solutions.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale federal government and/or healthcare data environments.
Relevant technical certifications are preferred but not required. Certifications related to data engineering, cloud platforms, database technologies, or BI/analytics tools such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Tableau, or Power BI are considered beneficial.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance data solutions that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs.
Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries used for data extraction, transformation, analysis, validation, and reporting.
Work with large-scale enterprise databases and data platforms to retrieve, transform, integrate, and analyze data.
Develop and support dashboards, reports, datasets, and visualizations using Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, or other BI technologies.
Use Python and other appropriate scripting technologies to support data processing, analysis, transformation, validation, and automation.
Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, inconsistencies, data quality issues, and opportunities to improve reporting and analytics.
Support data modeling and the preparation of structured datasets for reporting and analytical use cases.
Support ETL/ELT and data integration processes used to move and transform data across enterprise systems.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and other technical team members to understand reporting and data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve data, database, query, dashboard, and reporting issues.
Optimize queries, datasets, and BI solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Perform data validation and quality checks to help ensure reporting solutions provide accurate and consistent information.
Maintain technical documentation for data sources, queries, transformations, data models, reports, dashboards, and related processes.
Use Jira to support Agile planning, work tracking, documentation, and coordination across the development lifecycle.
Use GitHub and version-control practices to manage and collaborate on code and technical artifacts.
Continuously learn and adapt to new BI tools, data platforms, technologies, and development practices as program needs evolve.
