About The Position

This job operates in a professional office environment. Must be able to travel locally to attend training seminars. Reports directly to the Bank Secrecy Act Officer. Assists in ensuring the Bank’s compliance with the applicable aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and other applicable regulations by monitoring activity for potential money laundering, financial crimes and/or terrorist financing and by tracking exceptions and filing required transaction reports. Maintains confidentiality of Bank's customers and processes while adhering to Information Security standards.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a financial institution’s BSA/AML department.
  • Must be well-informed on BSA/AML/KYC and OFAC matters as well as financial products, services, and bank operations.
  • Previous experience working with regulatory agencies and state banking agencies.
  • Practical experience with basic hardware and software; proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Possesses superior attention to detail; ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines; demonstrates strong analytical skills; ability to interact effectively and respectfully with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision while performing duties.
  • Must maintain ongoing knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to the customer’s financial affairs.
  • Ability to deal with pressures relating to multiple deadlines, competing priorities, as well as a fast-paced, high-stress, and rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a full understanding of BSA Analyst Trainee position and required knowledge, requiring limited oversight and corrections related to initial reviews and reporting requirements.
  • Educates and trains other analysts on BSA Analyst Trainee responsibilities.
  • Inputs, tracks, and analyzes transactional data for the moderate and high-risk customer portfolio.
  • Compiles and reviews transactional and non-transactional data for suspicious activity, trends, and patterns.
  • Monitor and/ or investigate irregularities identified in newly opened accounts for know-your-customer and CIP compliance requirements utilizing relevant systems. Works with appropriate personnel to resolve.
  • Utilizes internal/external resources to investigate and analyze potential fraud and money laundering while conducting suspicious activity investigations.
  • Review and file CTRs within required timeframes.
  • Monitors and investigates potentially suspicious activity identified through the bank’s detection methods, completes SARs as necessary and ensures timely filing with FinCEN.
  • Reviews OFAC and 314(a) checks and researches any matches.
  • Communicates with appropriate Bank personnel to obtain further information and/or documentation necessary to ensure bank documentation is comprehensive enough to describe the associated activity and to complete the aforementioned reviews.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge regarding the Bank's high-risk customers and BSA/AML/OFAC related threats and the environment in which they operate.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, BSA training and all regulatory compliance training.
