Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in enterprise backup, recovery, and infrastructure resiliency
  • Deep hands-on expertise with: Veeam Backup & Replication (required)
  • Strong experience administering: VMware on-premises environments (VMs, clusters, infrastructure)
  • Azure cloud environments (VMs, storage, backup solutions)
  • Proven experience leading: Disaster recovery planning and execution, Backup validation and restore testing, Ransomware recovery readiness and cyber-resilience strategies
  • Strong understanding of: Windows Server environments (2019–2025), Hybrid infrastructure (on-premises and Azure)
  • Experience with: Immutable backup architectures, Backup monitoring, reporting, and optimization
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills in complex environments
  • Excellent documentation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong focus on policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • AvePoint and/or Commvault (strong asset)
  • Experience with Dell Data Domain / HPE StoreOnce
  • Microsoft 365 backup solutions (AvePoint, Druva, etc.)
  • Familiarity with modern workloads (e.g., containers, Kubernetes backup – optional)
  • Certifications such as: VMCE / VMware, Microsoft Azure, ITIL

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve enterprise backup, recovery, and cyber-resiliency strategies across on-premises and cloud platforms.
  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions using platforms such as Veeam, AvePoint, and Commvault.
  • Configure and optimize backup environments, including: Backup and replication jobs, Retention policies and performance tuning, Storage utilization and backup throughput
  • Manage and administer on-premises VMware environments, including: Virtual machines, clusters, and datastores, VM-level backup, replication, and recovery strategies
  • Manage and support Azure cloud-based infrastructure and virtual machines, ensuring data protection and recovery capabilities are aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Implement and maintain immutable backup, ransomware protection, and cyber-recovery controls.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and validation, ensuring RPO/RTO objectives are consistently met.
  • Perform advanced backup validation, restore testing, and recovery simulations to ensure true recoverability.
  • Act as the senior technical authority for backup-related incidents, including: Backup failures, Restore operations, Data integrity issues
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent solutions to improve system reliability.
  • Monitor backup environments for performance, capacity, failures, and risk; proactively resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including: Runbooks and SOPs, Disaster recovery plans, Backup and recovery procedures
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Cloud teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments related to data protection and resiliency.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, reporting, and standardization of backup operations.
