About The Position

This role focuses on building the AI engine for an established enterprise asset-and-metadata platform. The AI engine will be responsible for proposing metadata across the active project estate, implementing automated logic for reassigning or retiring ownerless systems, and maintaining a live inventory of agents and MCP servers across production and endpoint environments. The work involves using Go on AWS, interacting with a real production codebase, and understanding, extending, refactoring, or decommissioning existing code without causing regressions. Key responsibilities include developing the AI-suggested metadata engine, creating automated ownership reassignment and deprecation logic, building a comprehensive agent and MCP inventory, mapping first-party product inventory and critical user journeys, refactoring and decommissioning legacy systems with thorough testing, and delivering in an Agile/Scrum environment alongside program and customer teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Go as a working language, with experience building and shipping scalable backend services and APIs.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and real querying.
  • Experience with MongoDB, including schema design and real querying.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services, their client libraries, and APIs.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and tuning agentic, AI-driven workflows (e.g., suggestion engines, automated decision logic, assistant interfaces).
  • Experience with asset discovery/ingestion tooling (e.g., CloudQuery) for aggregating cloud resources and metadata.
  • Understanding of data classification standards, dependency mapping, and functional framework mapping.
  • Ability to navigate large, unfamiliar codebases to refactor or decommission legacy code without regressing existing behavior.
  • Experience with unit and integration testing for backend components as a standard practice.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies (sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IT asset management, CMDB, or configuration management platforms.
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and related agent tooling patterns.
  • Experience with governance, risk, or compliance workflows, including findings management and risk remediation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and tune the AI-suggested metadata engine to propose and refine metadata for active projects.
  • Implement automated logic for safely reassigning ownership or deprecating ownerless or relinquished systems.
  • Build and maintain a complete inventory of agents and MCP servers across production and endpoint environments, accessible programmatically.
  • Map first-party product inventory and critical user journeys to ensure trustworthy ownership and metadata.
  • Refactor and decommission legacy code, ensuring comprehensive unit and integration test coverage for all shipped code.
  • Deliver sprint commitments in collaboration with program and customer teams.
