About The Position

EvenUp is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Growth engineering pod, which is part of a combined Growth & Agents organization. This team is responsible for building the next generation of AI-powered customer communication systems. These systems manage how personal injury law firms interact with clients at scale, including AI outreach agents, configurable communication workflows, and a centralized communication hub for email, SMS, and voice. As a senior backend engineer, the role involves owning technical decisions end-to-end, collaborating with Product and Design, influencing the platform's direction, and solving complex engineering challenges. The position offers significant ownership and the opportunity to shape both the architecture and the product.

Requirements

  • A strong track record of shipping production systems end-to-end, and the ability to clearly explain the technical decisions you made and what you learned.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and solving problems that don’t come with a predefined solution.
  • Strong technical depth and the ability to dive into the details of your own work rather than speaking in generalities.
  • Around 5-8 years of software engineering experience as an individual contributor.
  • Builders who enjoy owning technical problems rather than pursuing people management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TypeScript and/or Python.
  • Experience building AI-powered products, conversational AI, communication platforms, or SMS/compliance systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ship backend features and services across EvenUp's Growth pod, from multi-channel outreach agents to configurable communication workflows.
  • Own technical decisions within your scope end-to-end, from design through production.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design on ambiguous, evolving specs, especially around bespoke customer customization requests.
  • Build for low-latency, high-performance needs as usage scales.
  • Contribute across the team's email, SMS, and voice channel work.
