About The Position

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Nagish, you will play a pivotal role in shaping experiences that truly make communication accessible for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. You will work across the stack - designing, building, and maintaining features that turn complex communication challenges into intuitive, high-performance solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with strong product sense, who cares deeply about users, accessibility, performance, and scalable design.

Requirements

6+ years of experience building complex distributed backend systems in production with Go, Node.js, or Python on cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS).
Deep understanding of scalability, performance, system design, and cloud infrastructure.
Strong problem-solving instincts.
Product mindset - you think about the user, not just the system.
You understand that backend decisions shape the product experience.
You work autonomously, take ownership, and make good judgment calls without waiting for detailed specs.
Comfortable with ambiguity - small team, big problems, no hand-holding.

Responsibilities

Own features and systems end-to-end: from understanding the user problem, through architecture, development, and operating it in production.
Design, build, and operate high-scale backend infrastructure serving users with real-time, low-latency requirements.
Collaborate directly with product and engineering to shape what we build, not just how we build it.
Dig into complex production issues - performance, reliability, data processing - and solve them under real constraints.
Continuously improve system architecture, observability, and development practices.
Leverage AI as part of the daily engineering work to accelerate development.
