About The Position

Aescape is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and deliver services that connect the company to third-party booking platforms. This contract engagement involves establishing infrastructure for third-party integration services, implementing integrations with three booking platforms, and creating a maintainable setup for ongoing use. The engineer will work with Aescape's backend and infrastructure teams and hand off the work with documentation and a maintenance plan. The engagement is expected to last 4 to 6 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to full time. Candidates anywhere in the United States must be available during core Eastern Time business hours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Compensation is $150 per hour as a 1099 independent contractor.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of backend engineering experience, including recent production experience with Golang.
• Experience building and shipping third-party API integrations in production.
• Experience taking a service from skeleton to production and handing it off with clear documentation.
• Comfort working with inconsistent or thinly documented vendor APIs.
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure setup for backend services.
• A track record of working independently, either as a contractor or in a high-ownership role.
• Based in the United States and able to work as a 1099 independent contractor.
• Availability during core business hours Eastern Time, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Experience integrating booking, scheduling, payments, or CRM systems.
• Potential future work may include repairing integrations after third-party breaking API changes or adding more booking providers; contractors may receive priority consideration for future full-time backend roles.

Responsibilities

• Review Aescape's service and infrastructure templates and set up a skeleton service that follows its Go service template and best practices.
• Set up infrastructure for third-party integration services with a focus on keeping ongoing maintenance light.
• Implement integrations with three third-party booking platforms within the infrastructure and connect them to Aescape's general third-party booking integration service.
• Work with Aescape's backend and infrastructure teams and provide feedback to improve the Aescape API and infrastructure template.
• Establish an infrastructure maintenance plan and hand off the work at the end of the engagement.
