About The Position

The Breakout team is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and implement the core services powering their trading platform. This role will focus on metrics, data pipelines, and performance monitoring, architecting solutions for real-time visibility into trading activity, risk exposure, and financial performance. The engineer will also drive scalability and reliability across the stack, collaborating with CTO, engineering, operations, and data teams to ensure systems deliver speed, accuracy, and transparency in a live trading environment.

Requirements

7+ years of backend engineering experience (at least 3+ years in financial, metrics-driven, or high-performance systems)
Highly skilled with C#, ASP.NET Core, and PostgreSQL
Comfortable deploying and scaling applications in AWS
Experience working on API platforms, real-time data pipelines, or metrics systems
Understanding or curiosity about trading systems and cryptocurrency markets
Thrive on solving complex problems and building robust, scalable software

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, low-latency, and scalable back-end services and RESTful APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core
Architecting solutions for real-time financial data processing, trade surveillance, and portfolio analysis
Building pipelines and data models to power metrics dashboards, risk reporting, and performance analytics
Managing and optimizing complex queries and schemas in PostgreSQL
Integrating APIs with third-party systems to ensure data integrity and reliability
Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks to meet demanding uptime and latency requirements
Implementing security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data encryption
