About The Position

Fetch is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II focused on CI/CD Engineering for its Platform Engineering organization. The role builds and improves the systems, tooling, and developer workflows that support software delivery across Fetch. The engineer will design and develop tools and automation that help teams build, test, validate, and deploy software with confidence, including improving CI performance, automated testing and verification, observability, and the speed and usefulness of developer feedback. This is a software engineering role with a strong backend and platform engineering focus. Work includes writing production-quality software, developing testing frameworks, and building tools that improve how engineering teams deliver code, alongside work with CI/CD infrastructure and DevOps technologies. At the Senior II level, the role independently owns complex technical projects, makes design decisions, collaborates across teams, and contributes scalable technical solutions that improve developer workflows. The position is full-time and may be performed remotely in the United States or from one of Fetch's US offices.

Requirements

At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including hands-on experience with backend systems, CI/CD tooling, developer infrastructure, or platform engineering.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing, building, and maintaining production-quality backend services, APIs, or internal tools.
Experience building or improving CI/CD pipelines, automated testing infrastructure, and software delivery workflows.
Hands-on experience with integration testing, end-to-end testing, contract testing, or performance regression testing.
Experience with observability, monitoring, and debugging tools, including diagnosing complex application or pipeline reliability issues.
Understanding of API contracts, schema validation, distributed systems, and service integration patterns.
Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and modern DevOps practices, including technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.
Ability to independently solve complex technical problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and deliver maintainable solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering teams.
A developer-focused mindset and curiosity about AI-assisted development and emerging engineering tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience building internal developer platforms, CI/CD verification frameworks, or developer productivity tooling.
Experience with CI platforms such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar systems.
Experience developing backend services or automation using Go, Python, or similar languages.
Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, or other cloud infrastructure technologies.
Experience building automated quality gates, contract testing frameworks, or reproducible test environments.
Experience with progressive delivery, canary deployments, merge queues, or artifact-based deployment workflows.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain CI/CD tooling, automated verification systems, and developer workflows that improve software delivery.
Independently own complex technical projects from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
Develop backend services, internal tools, and automation supporting build, test, validation, and deployment workflows.
Improve automated testing capabilities, including integration, end-to-end, contract, and performance regression testing.
Build and enhance automated quality gates, merge validation, and verification workflows to improve software reliability and release confidence.
Optimize CI/CD performance through caching, parallelization, infrastructure improvements, and more efficient test execution.
Improve observability and developer feedback so pipeline health, test failures, performance regressions, and deployment outcomes are easier to diagnose.
Partner with backend, infrastructure, SRE, security, frontend, and mobile engineers to improve testing practices and developer workflows.
Contribute to technical design decisions, document solutions, and mentor engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
