About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is a technology consulting and software development company delivering cloud, AI, data, and enterprise solutions across the United States. The company describes this as an opportunity with significant career growth potential. The Senior Backend Developer is a full-time, direct W2 role, remote within the United States, with a stated annual salary range of $100,000–$150,000. The position requires 11 or more years of experience. The employer cannot sponsor new H-1B visa petitions; U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and candidates transferring an H-1B are encouraged to apply. The role focuses on high-throughput platform development. The developer will design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services used by other engineering teams. These capabilities include request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching layers, asynchronous job execution, and durable event processing. The systems must support very high traffic volumes while maintaining predictable latency and minimizing operational toil. The ideal candidate brings deep distributed-systems expertise, strong platform-engineering instincts, a commitment to internal developer experience, and experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives that raise engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • At least 11 years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building and operating internal platforms or shared services consumed by multiple engineering teams.
  • Hands-on expertise designing distributed systems, with attention to consistency, availability, latency, and failure-mode behavior.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one major backend language, such as Java, Go, Scala, Rust, or modern C++.
  • Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging, streaming, and event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka, Pulsar, or NATS.
  • Strong working knowledge of data storage systems for relational, key-value, document, and search workloads.
  • Experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives across teams, including stakeholder management and technical decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise technical design documents and explain trade-offs clearly.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and shape engineering culture through code review, design review, and onboarding contributions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating Kubernetes-based platforms or contributing to internal developer-platform initiatives at scale.
  • Contributions to widely used open-source platform or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with control-plane/data-plane patterns, service mesh internals, or workflow-orchestration engines.
  • Experience designing platform APIs with strong backward-compatibility and versioning guarantees.
  • Public technical writing, conference talks, or other community contributions on platform engineering topics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services used by multiple engineering teams.
  • Develop backend platform capabilities for request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching, asynchronous job execution, and durable event processing.
  • Build systems that handle very high traffic volumes with predictable latency and minimal operational toil.
  • Lead multi-quarter platform initiatives across teams, including stakeholder management and technical decision-making.
  • Author technical design documents and clearly present technical trade-offs.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering culture through code reviews, design reviews, and onboarding.
