About The Position

CompassX is seeking a Senior Azure Integration Engineer to lead API and integration migrations to Azure-based platforms. This role involves executing end-to-end migrations, implementing API-led and event-driven architectures, and ensuring seamless cutovers with minimal disruption in a fast-paced, enterprise environment. The position is a 3-month remote contract.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in an enterprise development environment with a focus on complex IT architectures.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with Azure integration and API management.
  • 6+ years of hands-on development experience in Python.
  • Deep expertise in MS SQL Server and Oracle DBaaS relational database systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently while aligning multiple technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert knowledge of design and integration principles.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring others and aligning stakeholders on risk and execution strategy.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of MuleSoft Runtime and Anypoint Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of complex API and integration migrations to Azure, including refactoring patterns and coordinating cutovers to minimize downtime.
  • Implement API-led and event-driven integration patterns using Azure services, deployment tools, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Architect and secure APIs in Azure APIM using OAuth 2.0, Entra, mTLS, and robust API governance practices.
  • Operate and administer Azure platform components using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform/OpenTofu, Azure CLI, and the portal.
  • Develop containerized Azure Functions and deploy integration workloads to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Design complex data transformations with reusable libraries, managing multi-level mappings and translations.
  • Automate CI/CD processes using GitLab and enforce engineering quality through unit, integration, and functional testing.
  • Establish actionable observability for APIs using Azure Monitoring and external tools like Splunk.
  • Champion the use of GenAI tools (like GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery speed and improve code quality safely.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and lead troubleshooting efforts to provide durable, preventative fixes for production incidents.
