About The Position

CGI Federal is seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud Architect to provide expert cloud architecting support. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-level cloud infrastructures that cater to various environments, including sandbox, analytical, research, development, testing, and production, to meet the diverse needs of a federal agency. Join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the cloud infrastructure that supports the critical functions of a federal agency. This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in architecting and implementing AWS cloud solutions at an enterprise level.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and best practices.
  • Experience in developing prototypes and transitioning them to production environments.
  • Expertise in scalable security approaches and cloud optimization techniques.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design AWS cloud infrastructures that support the application portfolio, including VPC design, subnet segmentation, routing, NAT gateways, and security groups.
  • Develop and implement IAM policy designs aligned with least-privilege principles.
  • Provide solutions architecture for new applications, including deployment strategy, service selection, and integration patterns.
  • Engage in infrastructure-as-code development and maintenance using tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK.
  • Manage various environments, including development, staging, and production, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise security controls like Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Develop architectural documentation to support Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
  • Implement cloud cost governance and optimization strategies to ensure efficient resource usage.
  • Develop and implement prototypes that effectively leverage cloud architecture and available tools to meet performance management expectations.
  • Architect solutions that promote technology reuse, implement scalable security measures, and optimize cloud resource usage.
  • Collaborate with staff and contractors to deploy, operationalize, and maintain government prototypes, ensuring a smooth transition to production tools.
  • Provide guidance and support in the deployment and maintenance of cloud-based solutions, ensuring they align with organizational goals and objectives.
