This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will help design and develop rocket engines and propulsion systems that meet Blue Origin’s launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 7+ years of experience with the structural analysis
  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Excellent understanding of structural analysis/mechanics
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred)
  • Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
  • Ability to communicate analysis results effectively
  • Experience with ruggedized electronics enclosures or similar high performance hardware

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tools such as; Creo, Windchill, ANSYS
  • Experience with fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standard structural analysis methods

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical enclosures for avionics products
  • Create, run and evaluate structural, thermal and vibration analysis on avionics enclosures
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of safety, flight and mission critical avionics enclosures including conceptual design, structural layout and analysis, electrical layout and design support, mounting, and structural test
  • Liaison between structural analysis and avionics design teams
  • Lead design team in implementation of analysis best practices
  • Support electronics development and trade studies
  • Create interface definition, specification, and control documents
  • Validate requirements through design, test, analysis, or inspection
  • Plan and conduct tests, review and interpret data
  • Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
