Senior Aviation Civil Engineer, Project Manager
About The Position
Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced Aviation Project Manager and Civil Lead to help grow its Alaska aviation practice. In this role, you will lead airport planning and design projects that connect communities, support economic development, and strengthen critical transportation infrastructure across Alaska. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and a technical leader within the organization. This opportunity combines project delivery, technical expertise, business development, and mentoring while helping expand the aviation practice in Alaska and nationwide.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alaska, or an out of state license and ability to obtain an Alaska PE in six months
- 10+ years of civil engineering and project management experience, including plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and mentoring staff.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting business development and proposals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam.
Nice To Haves
- Aviation engineering and airport project experience preferred.
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects in remote or rural Alaska.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS applications is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead aviation planning and design projects from concept through construction, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships.
- Manage airport planning, engineering, and civil infrastructure projects throughout Alaska.
- Lead projects from planning and preliminary design through final design and construction documents.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.
- Support construction activities and project implementation.
- Provide technical leadership and practical solutions for complex aviation engineering challenges.
- Lead engineering analyses, design development, modeling, and technical decision-making.
- Serve as a technical resource for aviation projects in Alaska and nationwide.
- Provide guidance on airport design standards and engineering best practices.
- Support key aviation pursuits and projects.
- Develop engineering talent and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams.
- Mentor and develop engineering and technical staff.
- Promote quality, technical excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Help strengthen and expand Michael Baker’s aviation presence in Alaska.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities.
- Support proposals, interviews, and strategic pursuits.
- Expand Michael Baker’s presence within Alaska’s aviation community.
