About The Position

The Senior Autonomy Engineering Specialist (DevOps Architect) serves as the technical authority for DevOps architecture across Caterpillar’s onboard mining and construction platforms. The role partners with customers, Product Owners, System Architects, and engineering teams to translate operational and delivery needs into scalable, secure, and automated DevOps solutions for embedded and distributed environments. The position defines and evolves DevOps architecture strategy, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, environment provisioning, observability, security integration, and automation practices for MineStar onboard products. It connects development, test, and operations ecosystems with onboard and embedded platforms, cloud services, APIs, and infrastructure to support reliable software delivery, high availability, and performance in constrained, mission-critical environments. As a hands-on technical leader, this specialist provides architectural governance, mentors engineering teams, and guides execution in a scaled Agile environment. The role promotes frequent, predictable, high-quality releases and strengthens capabilities in automation, autonomy, cybersecurity, and digital innovation. The position is onsite five days a week at the Irving, Texas office and requires up to 10% international travel. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not offered.
