About The Position

Shield AI’s Hivemind Division is seeking a detail-oriented Autonomy Engineer with technical writing skills. The role combines software engineering and robotics knowledge with the ability to become an expert user of Hivemind Enterprise, a product for designing, deploying, evaluating, and iterating on autonomy architectures for varied robotic platforms. The engineer will work across engineering teams and with Customer Engagement to learn Hivemind SDK functionality and produce clear technical documentation and tutorials for customers with a range of skills and experience. The role also involves creating workflow visuals and developing a strategy to connect auto-generated API documentation with hand-written user guides.

Requirements

Background in robotics and autonomy.
Coding proficiency with C++.
High proficiency in technical writing, including academic papers, technical tutorials, or software product documentation.
Strong understanding of what excellence in software product documentation looks like.
Comfort working in a Linux environment.
Ability to generate results rapidly with minimal input to unblock iteration.
Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with software engineering practices related to software versioning, packaging, and deployment.
Experience in the aviation and/or aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

Become an expert user of the Hivemind Enterprise product.
Contribute to the selection of documentation creation platforms and tools.
Work with developers and the Customer Engagement team to produce technical writing describing product functionality.
Generate diagrams, flow charts, and other visual aids to describe supported workflows.
Devise a strategy for connecting auto-generated API documentation with hand-written user guides.
