About The Position

Our vehicles do more than just drive themselves - they provide value to communities, bridge public transit gaps and move people where they need to go safely, easily and with a lot more fun. We’re building the world’s best autonomy system to reimagine transit by minimizing congestion, expanding access and encouraging better land use in order to foster more green, vibrant and livable spaces. Since our founding in 2017, we’ve given more than 500,000 autonomous rides to real people around the globe. And we’re just getting started. We’re hiring people who share our passion for building the future, today, solving real-world problems and seeing the impact of their work. Join us. Job Summary May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of growth as we expand our first-of-its-kind autonomous shuttle and mobility services across the nation. Launched in 2017 with a strong team of experienced roboticists and software engineers with decades of experience fielding robotic systems in the wild, May Mobility is looking to expand its team of robotics engineers with a background in robotics or autonomous vehicles.

Requirements

  • Strong systems-level understanding of autonomous vehicle or robotic software architecture, including how perception, planning, and controls subsystems interact.
  • Disciplined approach to software integration, with an ability to manage complexity across multiple concurrent development streams.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools and the ability to design test scenarios that expose meaningful edge cases and system-level behaviors.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative performance data, identify trends or regressions, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to make integration decisions and set testing priorities without waiting for complete information or fully defined processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing engineering reports or system status summaries for a broad audience.
  • Ability to work effectively across team boundaries, managing competing priorities and dependencies with multiple stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a field with a strong mathematical or engineering foundation (e.g., physics, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of industry experience working on real-world autonomous vehicle or robotic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with system-level integration testing, including both simulation and hardware-in-the-loop or on-vehicle validation.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience building or working within CI/CD pipelines and automated test frameworks.
  • Familiarity with git-based development workflows, including branch management, merge request review, and conflict resolution in large codebases.
  • Expertise with software development in a Linux environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with one or more AV or robotics simulation platforms (e.g., Simian, CARLA, Gazebo, or similar).
  • Familiarity with major autonomy subsystems — behavior planning, prediction, perception, or controls — sufficient to diagnose integration issues spanning subsystem boundaries.
  • Experience developing performance dashboards, data visualizations, or automated reporting tools for engineering teams.
  • Background in ADAS development or safety-critical software validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration testing activities across the autonomy stack, coordinating software deliveries from development teams and owning the end-to-end integration process.
  • Maintain a clean, stable integration branch — managing merge requests, resolving conflicts, and enforcing branch hygiene across a large, multi-team codebase.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test pipelines and CI/CD infrastructure to support continuous integration of autonomy software.
  • Execute and iterate on simulation-based testing campaigns to validate system behavior across a broad range of scenarios and operational conditions.
  • Plan and conduct on-vehicle tests to validate integrated autonomy software in real-world environments, translating findings into actionable development feedback.
  • Develop and track performance metrics and KPIs for the autonomy system, producing clear reports on system health for the broader engineering organization.
  • Diagnose integration failures and performance regressions, coordinating with development teams to drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Contribute targeted features and bug fixes to unblock integration or address issues surfaced during testing.
  • Partner with perception, planning, and controls teams to align on subsystem interfaces, anticipate integration risk, and coordinate delivery timing.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare suite including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability plans.
  • Domestic partners who have been residing together at least one year are also eligible to participate.
  • Health Savings and Flexible Spending Healthcare and Dependent Care Accounts available.
  • Rich retirement benefits, including an immediately vested employer safe harbor match.
  • Generous paid parental leave as well as a phased return to work.
  • Flexible vacation policy in addition to paid company holidays.
  • Total Wellness Program providing numerous resources for overall wellbeing
