Senior Automotive Technician
About The Position
Sun Auto Tire & Service is seeking a Senior Automotive Technician to diagnose and repair customer vehicles accurately and efficiently, with attention to quality. The technician performs advanced diagnostics and complex, heavy-duty repairs, ensuring vehicles meet MAP guidelines and dealership, manufacturer, and company repair standards. The role includes explaining diagnoses and recommended repairs to customers and other non-mechanical individuals, documenting service recommendations, and following safety procedures and company policies. Flexible scheduling, including weekends as needed, is required; Sundays are closed.
Requirements
- Previous automotive technician or mechanic experience, or ASE certifications in lieu of experience.
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a State Inspector License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire in applicable locations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet the listed physical requirements, including standing up to eight hours per day, walking, regularly bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching, frequently lifting or moving up to 70 pounds, and communicating with customers and shop personnel.
- Vision sufficient to detect color and depth and to refocus.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicles according to the appropriate level of certification and experience.
- Perform work listed on multi-point inspections and repair orders efficiently and accurately.
- Perform complex and heavy-duty repairs.
- Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals, including store managers, service consultants, and customers.
- Recommend services needed to keep customer vehicles in running condition and document recommendations in customer files.
- Follow safety procedures and report concerns to the direct supervisor.
- Work flexible schedules, including weekends as needed; Sundays are not worked.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
