About The Position

MARTIN Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Automotive Mechanic to join our Novi, Michigan team. This position supports a wide variety of automotive engineering, performance vehicle, retrofit, restoration, testing, and customer vehicle projects. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with engine repair and installation, vehicle modifications, wiring, retrofit projects, and complete vehicle assembly. This individual is passionate about automotive technology, enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, and takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship. Work Authorization Requirements Applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Must currently reside in Michigan. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is available. Candidates requiring current or future sponsorship will not be considered.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional automotive mechanic experience.
  • Strong engine repair, installation, and rebuilding experience.
  • Experience with vehicle retrofit and modification projects.
  • Hands-on experience with complete vehicle assembly and mechanical systems.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting automotive wiring harnesses.
  • Experience ordering and tracking automotive parts and materials.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must own a professional mechanic tool box with personal tools.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel occasionally between Novi, New Hudson, and customer sites.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification (Engine, A-Series, or Master Technician) preferred.
  • Experience with race engines or motorsports.
  • Experience supporting engine or vehicle calibration activities.
  • Experience working on classic, custom, retrofit, or restored vehicles.
  • Fabrication, welding, or custom build experience.
  • Experience in an OEM, engineering, dealership, or high-performance automotive environment.
  • Familiarity with CAN bus systems and automotive electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and performance vehicles.
  • Perform engine removal, installation, rebuilding, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Support retrofit vehicle projects, including mechanical and electrical modifications.
  • Install and modify wiring harnesses, electrical components, sensors, and accessories.
  • Perform complete vehicle assembly and mechanical system installations.
  • Support engine calibration activities by preparing vehicles and resolving mechanical issues.
  • Assist with race engine builds, performance upgrades, and specialty vehicle projects.
  • Read and interpret service manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Perform suspension, steering, brake, drivetrain, cooling, fuel, and exhaust system repairs.
  • Fabricate or modify brackets, mounts, and mechanical components as needed.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Order automotive parts, tools, and shop supplies.
  • Track parts inventory, purchase orders, and project materials.
  • Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and technical teams to complete customer projects.
  • Travel between MARTIN Technologies facilities and customer locations as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
